Lady Cheetahs settle for bronze

THE Zimbabwe women’s rugby team finished third at the Africa Cup Women’s Rugby tournament after they were defeated 31-5 by Kenya in the semi-finals at Morris Depot on Sunday. Zimbabwe took bronze. The Lady Cheetahs started the tournament well, winning two games out of three on Saturday, to book a place in the semis.South Africa won the event after they defeated Kenya 22-17 in a lively final.

Charity Macucuti, the Lady Cheetahs captain, hailed the tournament and said they learnt a lot.

“It was a good tournament, which we enjoyed, every moment, the girls started slowly, but we managed to recover and won some big games.

“We have a good junior policy and our future is bright,” said Macucuti.
