CONFIDENCE is running high in the Lady Chevrons camp, and skipper Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano has promised nothing short of a ruthless finish when Zimbabwe face the United Arab Emirates in the decisive fourth ODI at Queens Sports Club.
The Lady Chevrons lead the series 2-1 and Mugeri-Tiripano says the mission is clear.
“After the initial setback, we executed a strong comeback and now lead the series 2-1,” she told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
“We are determined to seal the series with a win and carry this momentum forward.”
The captain admitted the opening defeat was a wake-up call. It forced the side to sharpen both their batting and fielding, areas she described as weaknesses.
The quick turnaround, she said, has been anchored on tactical tweaks and renewed team spirit.
“I am impressed with how the team is gelling,” Mugeri-Tiripano said.
“Our senior players have stepped up authoritatively, leading by example in every department.”
She singled out the return of Loryn Phiri, who has added strength with the bat, while praising the bowling unit for its consistency.
“Adel and Tendai have been outstanding with the new ball, leading the charge from the front,” she noted.
Looking ahead, the captain believes batting partnerships and sharper fielding will be the deciding factors.
“If we can improve on building partnerships when batting and if we continue taking all our chances when presented in the field, I am sure we will have a perfect finish to the series,” she said.
Beyond today’s contest, the Lady Chevrons are already mindful of next year’s World Cup qualifiers in Nepal.
Mugeri-Tiripano said every outing is part of their larger build-up.
“The team is acutely aware of the importance of these games,” she said.
“We are leveraging this series to forge a competitive and cohesive unit capable of succeeding on the global stage.”
