ZIMBABWE’S senior women’s cricket team made short work of Sierra Leone, winning by 10 wickets in their second ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division One match in Windhoek on Monday.
Asked to field first, the Lady Chevrons restricted Sierra Leone to 93/9 in 20 overs. Josephine Nkomo starred with the ball, taking 3/27, while Nyasha Gwanzura claimed 2/14. Only Celina Bull reached double figures with 26 runs.
Zimbabwe’s chase was smooth, finishing 94/0 in just 12 overs. Modester Mupachikwa top scored with 51 off 40 balls, her third WT20I half-century, supported by Kelis Ndhlovu’s 39.
The Lady Chevrons will face Nigeria in their final Group A game on Wednesday. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on 4 September, with the finalists earning spots in next year’s global qualifier in Nepal, a step toward the 2026 World Cup in England and Wales.
