A number of people have raised concerns about the operations of the land developer, especially in Umguza district.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said she bought a stand in Upper Rangemore sometime in 2008 but was only shown a bushy area this year after several encounters with the land developer.
“I bought a stand in 2008 from Zim-Trust MSN land developers but they did not show it to me. I tried to talk to them in a bid to resolve the issue but still could not get any joy. It was after I had threatened them with legal action that I was shown a bushy area as my stand,” said the source.
Speaking on behalf of her boss who was said to be out of the country, the secretary of Zim-Trust MSN land developers said she was not aware of any such developments but confirmed that stands in Umguza were available.
“I do not know what you are talking about but stands are available in Upper Rangemore.
“The people who are complaining were shown an area yet to be surveyed and pegged such that if they can be patient, they would be shown their rightful places when servicing begins,” said the secretary, who declined to be named.
It is reported that the people who had bought stands in that area approached the Umguza Rural District Council and were told that the person developing that area was new so they had to go back to him to clear out their differences.
An official of the Umguza RDC, Mr Victor Musiyiwa, dismissed the allegations of swindling saying they were unfounded as there were no stands in the area at the moment.
Sources claim they are paying between $15 and $20 per month after paying the initial down payment of $700 for the stands.
