Landlady beats up tenant

Ruth Musonza (36) of 18480 Unit L could not contain her temper after seeing her tenant Julian Vhiriri (35) coming home drunk at around 4.30am with her husband.

Musonza, who had spent the night alone, in a fit of rage grabbed Vhiriri’s weave and dragged her into her room.She took a cooking stick and severely assaulted the helpless Vhiriri who sustained multiple injuries.  Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr

Lazarus Murendo, Musonza was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to assault. Mr Murendo conditionally suspended four months of her sentence for five years.

The remaining eight months were set aside on condition she completes 280 hours of community service at the courts.
Prosecuting for the State, Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa proved that on March 3, the drunken Vhiriri came home at around 4.30am walking with Musonza’s husband.
