A KUWADZANA landlady landed in the dock over the weekend for allegedly removing asbestos sheeting from rooms she was letting out.

Anna Nyoka, 50, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate, Tafadzwa Miti, who released her on free bail.

Nyoka is accused of violating the Rent and Regulations Act by obstructing her tenants from their rented dwellings.

The court heard that Nyoka owns a house in Kuwadzana, which has three tenants.

It is alleged she had a misunderstanding with her tenants – Dadirai Purukeya, Dudzai Kashangarare and Providence Sibanda.

The court heard that the misunderstanding involved rentals, and Nyoka removed asbestos sheeting from each of their rooms.

Later that night, it rained heavily causing damage to their belongings, prompting the lodgers to file a police report against Nyoka.

Mandirasa Chigumira appeared for the State.
