A BULAWAYO man was arraigned before the courts for allegedly fondling his tenant’s private parts claiming that it was a form of payment as she had delayed to pay rent. Mehluli Nyathi (45) from Kelvin West was remanded in custody to 9 February for trial when he appeared before Western Commonage Provincial magistrate Ms Tancy Dube facing a charge of indecent assault. Nyathi allegedly touched his tenant’s private parts after she had delayed paying him the monthly rent.

Prosecuting, Ms Sibekithemba Dube said on 31 January at about 11pm the tenant was sleeping alone in her bedroom when she heard someone touching her private parts.

“While she was sleeping, she felt someone fondling her private parts and that person was in the same blankets with her.

When she woke up she was shocked to see her landlord Nyathi in the same blankets with her. She then insulted Nyathi who was still in the blankets. To her surprise, Nyathi told her that she had not yet paid her rent and that forced him to fondle her private parts as a form of some payment,” he said.

She reported the matter to the police and Nyathi was arrested.
