Last minute rush as schools open

The opening of schools for the third term has triggered a last-minute rush as parents buy school uniforms, stationery and groceries for boarders.

The third term starts tomorrow and most boarders are returning to their schools today.

The last-minute purchases have been good for vendors and shops that sell uniforms, stationery, and other school-related wares.

When The Herald went around Harare’s Central Business District this morning, some parents and their children were busy shopping while others were helping their children to board buses for the journey back to their respective schools.

The last-minute rush has come with congestion on some streets in the CBD, including Leopold Takawira Street where most people who sell school stuff are located.
