THE director of the Democracy Advocate Trust and a member of Occupy Africa Unity Square today failed to hold a press conference in Harare on Itai Dzamara’s alleged disappearance and lied to journalists who had converged at the venue that he and his colleagues had been arrested.
The two identified as Shepherd Chidhakwa who is the director of Democracy Advocate Trust and Occupy Africa Unity Square member Elvis Mugari had also planned to conduct an illegal demonstration to Parliament to handover a petition in the company of several youths believed to be MDC-T members which they failed to do.
Police sources today said no member of Occupy Africa Unity Square had been arrested.
Occupy Africa Unity Square was led by Dzamara as chairperson, deputised by one Dirk Frey while Charles Nyoni was secretary general, Abel Mavhura (treasurer), Tichaona Dana (coordinator), Tafadzwa Charumbira (coordinator) and Steven Sibanda (committee member).
Harare acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi today confirmed that no such arrests were made.
Journalists from various media houses today converged at Media Centre in the city where the press conference was scheduled to be held.
