Mamelodi Sundowns are yet to confirm the extent of Warriors defender Devine Lunga’s head injury suffered on Tuesday night’s 3-0 thumping of Golden Arrows in the MTN8 semi-finals.
Lunga made a grand arrival in the Mamelodi Sundowns starting 11 since his switch from Golden Arrows in July. He propelled the Brazilians to a 2-0 lead in the 29th minute with a flashing header after his side had taken a fourth minute lead through Peter Shalulile.
Victory and a final appearance were sealed four minutes into injury time from Neo Maema’s beautiful curler as Mamelodi Sundowns wrapped a 4–1 aggregate win.
Barring the gravity of his head injury, the 27-year-old defender is today expected to be named in coach Norman Mapeza’s World Cup squad to face Ghana in back-to-back qualifiers next month.
Golden Arrows striker Knox Mutizwa, who was in the starting lineup for Abafana Besthende, is also expected to be part of the Warriors squad alongside the Tanzanian-based duo of Never Tigere and Bruce Kangwa.
