LATEST: NewsDay journalists released on bail

NewsDay deputy editor, Nqaba Matshazi and reporter, Xolisani Ncube, who were arrested on Thursday morning for allegedly publishing falsehoods, have been freed on $200 bail each.

Matshazi and Ncube appeared in court today and were jointly charged with their employer, Alpha Media Holdings Private Limited, represented by its company secretary Sifikile Thabeta.

Granting the trio bail, Harare magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo ordered them to surrender their passports and report every Friday at Harare Central’s CID Law and Order.

They were also ordered to reside at their given addresses and not to interfere with State witnesses.

The three will be back in court on January 27.
