The council has been accused of neglecting its duty with regards to the administration of open spaces which individuals within the council were indiscriminately parcelling out and causing chaos.
Some of the car sales had literally defaced the ambience of certain suburbs as the operators disregarded urban planning etiquette.
A full council meeting held on Tuesday approved the cancellation of all temporary permits.
“All temporary car sale permits be revoked and only permanent designated sites be issued with permits,” reads part of the minutes.
The council agreed that operators occupying unapproved sites should apply to the Environment Management Committee for consideration.
Some operators had occupied road reserves threatening the safety of motorists who risked ramming into the parked vehicles.
The allocation of car sales sites has already resulted in the dismissal of council officials who were fingered in the illegal allocations.
