President Mugabe has visited the Siamese twins who were successfully operated on during an eight hour delicate procedure at the Harare Central Hospital recently. The twins born on April 22 this year to a Murehwa couple were joined from the lower chest to the upper abdomen and shared a liver. President Mugabe hailed the unity of purpose among the 50 surgeons, doctors and other supporting staff leading to the success of the operation.

Describing the successful operation as a “miracle and mystery” that has raised Zimbabwe’s name the world over, President Mugabe said there was need for Government to complement workers’ resolve to work for the nation under difficult circumstances.

He hailed medical health practitioners who continued to work wonders despite the country facing difficulties due to illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West.

He was accompanied during the visit by First Lady Amai Mugabe, Health and Child Welfare Minister David Parirenyatwa, his deputy Dr Paul Chimedza, Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs Minister Mirriam Chikukwa and senior Government authorities.
