Latest: Serial rapist, armed robber sentenced to 290yrs

A serial rapist and armed robber who raped 13 women in Harare’s suburbs of Cranborne, Hatfield and Queensdale before robbing them of their valuables has been sentenced to 290 years in prison.

Thomas Chirembwe (30) was convicted of 21 counts.

However, Regional magistrate Mr Simon Kachambwa suspended 60 years on condition of good behaviour.

Chirembwe will effectively serve 230 years.
