Lawyers for ED rally behind President

Zimbabweans should vote for ZANU PF and President Mnangagwa in tomorrow’s harmonised elections to allow him to complete the developments that he initiated in 2018, representatives of the Lawyers for Economic Development have said.

In a short video, Lawyers for ED president Advocate Mellisa Dinha, said: “As we are approaching the election date, 23 August 2023, let us remember the many achievements that we have witnessed under the Second Republic.

“We have seen a lot of progress in our nation under the leadership of His Excellency Dr E.D Mnangagwa; the modernisation of the Beitbridge Border Post, the renovation and expansion of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, the construction of a modern, fully fledged Parliament in Mt Hampden, the construction of many different roads in Zimbabwe such as the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge highway, among many other achievements.

“Indeed, His Excellency is a transformational leader, a leader who is passionate about the development of Zimbabwe and who has the people of Zimbabwe at heart. He is a wise, well-seasoned and eminent lawyer and a great leader of our time. Come 23 august 2023 (tomorrow), let us go out in our numbers; ladies and gentleman, my learned friends and colleagues, and vote for Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, to be the President of Zimbabwe and let us vote for Zanu PF, the party that liberated this nation and the party that continues to liberate this nation, the people’s party.”

Lawyers for ED vice president, Advocate Albert Damioni, also said: “Hello Zimbabwe, my name is Albert Damioni, I am a registered practising lawyer.

“I love my country and I love my President. I am one of the millions of people that are happy with the achievements of the Second Republic. Zimbabwe, on the 23rd of August, let’s vote for our President, Cde ED Mnangagwa and give him a fresh mandate (so) that he may finish the good works that he started.”

Another member, Counsel Dzidziso Nyadzayo, said for the past 43 years, Zimbabwe has been on a journey to reclaim its identity.

“Under the leadership of our President Emmerson Mnangagwa, we have persevered through challenges that were insurmountable. We have seen developments like never before.

“He is the only candidate to bring the African consciousness in our legal and economic development. Now, my fellow Zimbabweans, we are faced yet again, with another opportunity to entrust him with the mandate of take this country forward.

“Therefore, we as Lawyers for ED, stand firm with the agenda of the President of this country. We invite you, my fellow Zimbabweans, in rallying for support and vote for the President Emmerson Mnangagwa and vote ZANU PF,” said Counsel Dzidziso.

He added that President Mnangagwa is the “only candidate who can take the country forward”.

“We invite you to join us on the 23 of August, in voting for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, (and) to vote for ZANU PF,” said Counsel Dzidziso.

Lawyers for ED national spokesperson Advocate Brighton Masilo said he is “a proud and patriotic Zimbabwean”, who is also a stern and ardent believer in the capabilities of President Mnangagwa.

He said President Mnangagwa has laid a firm foundation in infrastructure development, and encouraged voters to vote for President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF, so that he finishes his projects.

A law student at the University of Zimbabwe, Kudzai Mukono, who is the national students’ representative for Lawyers for ED said President Mnangagwa is a man with a vision, who wants to make Zimbabwe an upper middle income economy by 2030.

She said as aspiring lawyers the strongly support the President’s vision and the mantra “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo”.

“Tisu vene vayo (We are the owners of the country),” she said.

Many people and affiliate organisations have been rallying behind Zanu PF and President Mnangagwa to enable him to complete his infrastructure development projects and entrench economic stability.
