Having landed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue his dream on one of America’s biggest stages on the America’s Got Talent show, Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi appeared to have reached a major career milestone. However, recent developments shared on his social media suggest the journey has taken an unexpected twist.
While performing at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, Jonasi was reportedly served with a US$27 million lawsuit over a joke referencing the singer behind the globally recognised Disney feature song from The Lion King. True to his comedic instincts, Jonasi did not treat the moment with alarm, instead turning it into material that elevated his performance and left audiences even more entertained.
He has since transformed the incident into a full-fledged comedy tour titled Look, It’s a Lawsuit, which is set to take him across major comedy clubs in the United States. Amid the buzz, Jonasi has also expressed interest in staging a homecoming show in Zimbabwe this August.
“I’d really love to come home and do something special, a big show in Zimbabwe on my birthday, August 22. If you’re a promoter, brand, or partner who wants to help make this happen, let’s build something unforgettable together,” he said in a Facebook post.
