Legendary goalie burial set for today

HUNDREDS of mourners have thronged the CCAP Church in Old Lobengula to pay their last respects to the legendary former Eastlands and Mashonaland FC goalkeeper William ‘Gorilla’ Chirwa.

He was 85.

Chirwa died at Mpilo Central Hospital last Friday after a long battle with a kidney ailment.

He is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of the 1960s and 1970s in a career which started at the age of 14 in Ndola, Zambia.

After retirement he had a brief stint as How Mine coach.
