STEWART Murisa broke down when he launched his autobiography ‘Shutto 15: The Untold Story’ in Birmingham, England, on Friday night.
He appeared to be overwhelmed by emotions and the support he received from the Zimbabwean community based in the UK.
The function attracted many retired football stars who are now based in England.
It also coincided with Murisa’s 52nd birthday celebrations.
Murisa, who won the Soccer Star of the Year in 1996 after a starring role for CAPS United as they won the championship under the guidance of Charles Mhlauri, has been based in England since December 2003.
He arrived to settle in England on the eve of his daughter Natalie’s wedding day.
The book was written by journalist Clemens Marijeni, a former sportswriter at the Chronicle.
There has been an outpouring of support for Murisa online.
Here are some of the comments:
Had the pleasure of attending Stewart Murisa’s book launch and birthday celebrations last night. Proud to have purchased a personal copy of the book. Stewart Murisa launched his book that talks about his life and football history. A few days ago, I posted about it, and I saw people asking a lot of questions about his football career, history and all. But then guys all those answers are in the book. Instead of asking me about his time at DT, if he enjoyed his time at Blackpool, where he got his nickname and when…etc …why don’t you just grab a copy of the book and get the answers to your questions? The book will be launched in Harare as well, soon. – Alois Bunjira (former CAPS United player)

The book titled ‘‘The Untold Story of Stewart Murisa’’, Shutto15 talks about his journey in the game which was filled with triumphs, challenges, and everything in between. It’s more than just football; it’s a story of dedication, passion, and the beautiful game that unites our nation. During his hay days, the legendary Zimbabwean footballer achieved the unthinkable.
He played for ALL the biggest three clubs in Zimbabwe, CAPS United, Highlanders and Dynamos. Hard to think of any other player who played at the top of their game for these 3 giants.
This book is just a glimpse into the incredible life and career of Stewart Murisa. The pressure of those divided loyalties, the sheer talent that transcended team colours, his story is truly inspiring.
In his book Murisa delves into his remarkable career. His story deserves to be told and you can read more of his fascinating journey in football by getting yourself a copy of his new book. I had a special invitation from Shutto but unfortunately won’t make it to UK for the event. Thanks Shutto for the recognition. – Ezra Tshisa Sibanda (Broadcaster)

Yesterday, I had the honour of representing ZIFA at the launch of Stewart Murisa Murisa book #Shutto15: #TheUntoldStory, the new autobiography by CAPS United legend Stuart “Shutto” Murisa — penned on his behalf by veteran writer Clemence Marijeni and hosted by Diaspora Insurance.
I congratulated Shutto on his bravery and persistence in shaping a meaningful life after football, and reaffirmed ZIFA’s commitment to support former players pursuing coaching, running academies, writing, or promoting Zimbabwean football — whether as ambassadors or podcasters. It was a spectacular celebration, made extra special as Shutto also marked his birthday surrounded by family and friends. Well done, Shutto! – Marshall Gore
