Legends darts tourney gets into final round

TWENTY-two pairs are through to the final round of the Legends Doubles Darts Tournament which will be held at Parkview Sports Club today.
The first round of the tournament was played on Wednesday night at the same venue with over 31 pairs taking part.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts Association organising secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo said the first day of the tournament was a success with a high turnout.

“The attendance was good, the games were played well and we will play the final round tomorrow (today),” said Nkomo.
He challenged sponsors to chip in and sponsor the tournaments, as well as disclosing prizes to be won, so that people know what they are playing for.

“We hope more sponsors will come aboard and support us, as well as to make it clear on the prizes so that people know what they are playing for and that will attract more players,” he said.

Among the pairs through to the next round are Sikhulile Sibanda/ Melusi Ndlovu, Highlanders Football Club chairman Peter Dube and Siela Chikasha

High-flying Archers have three pairs today, among them captain Ernest “Maphepha” Sibanda and his partner Edwin Sibanda also Nkululeko Sibanda / Big Brain Njanja and tournament favourites Brian Ndlovu and Tawanda Albert.

Albert and Ndlovu won gold and bronze respectively at the National Heroes Darts Championships last month .
Archers captain Sibanda said they are positive that they will do well after the preliminary rounds.

“Now we move to the difficult stage, where you meet giants, but we hope to do well and test ourselves against the best,” said Sibanda.
All matches will start at 7.30pm, with the draw to be conducted at 7pm.
