MUSIC producer and veteran guitarist, Clive Mono Mukundu, said the Bulawayo Legends Night is tailored specifically for the City of Kings.

The event, which is set for Saturday at the ZITF Hall.

Mono said the audience can expect a show tailored specifically for Bulawayo, with a performance that will showcase the city’s rich musical heritage.

He said the show promises to be a spectacular celebration of local talent, featuring a star-studded line-up of Bulawayo-based artists, including Iyasa, Albert Nyathi, and Dereck Mpofu, among others.

In an interview with Zimpapers Entertainment Hub, Mono said the event will be a true celebration of local classics, with no foreign material included.

“The audience should expect fireworks and a show tailored specifically for Bulawayo. The show will include Iyasa, Albert Nyathi, Dereck Mpofu, and other surprise Bulawayo-based artists.

“I will be cheering in the crowd.

“I will be assisting with logistics and cheering on as a proud father in the audience; I never perform on stage at Legend Night gigs.

“The audience should simply expect a performance of only local classics. Legends Nights’ show never includes foreign material. It is all about celebrating local,” he said.

Mono believes that the young generation like local genres like sungura and chimurenga music.

“There is an old age myth that young people do not like local genres like Sungura, Chimurenga, and Mbira music.

“Every Legends Night, the audience is 99% from the Ama2000 generation.

“I am always the oldest in the audience. This proves that the notion is a myth. Even during the days I worked with Tuku, half our audience was young,” he said.

With its focus on local talent and culture, the Legends Night has become a big event on the Zimbabwe music calendar.
