SOUTH AFRICAN comedian Leon “Schuks” Schuster is expected to grace the much hyped Rainbow Splash – The Hottest Chill, on December 6-8 at Prince Edward School.
Organisers have confirmed the developments saying preparations are at an advanced stage.
“We are happy to announce that Leon Schuster will be present among other guests. We believe he is not only loved by children but some adults as well,” said Kristle Smasher.
Schuster, who is a former child entertainer is known for his hilarious roles in comedies such as “You Must be Joking” and “Mr Bones”.
His appearance adds flavour to an already interesting expo where a number of local teen celebrities have also confirmed participation, expressing their delight at the initiative.
“I will definitely be attending the kids’ expo. I am really excited about marking the start of the festive holiday in style. I am looking forward also to interacting with other teenagers and Mr Bones as well”, said television personality Timothy Hogo (19).
Kids aged from 0-19 can also expect various treats in the form of an amusement park, an animal farm and giant puppets.
The event is more like a kaleidoscopic summer break from the organisers’ description.
“We are delighted that our vision is coming through. We want to accommodate every kid and we have already booked the venue and we are putting final touches though its two months down the line,” said Smasher one of the events directors.
She said the reason for choosing Rainbow Splash as the theme was to reflect on the love many kids have for rainbows.
She explained that the colours of a rainbow are signify light and are fresh and happy and since they are rare.
“They elicit a sense of awe and delight in addition to bringing the promise of sunshine with the blue sky usually on the horizon. Many kids love the rainbow because of that and by using a rainbow as a guide, you can ensure that kids have a deeper meaning and clearer picture of what will be happening,” said Smasher.
Mwoyofiri said a lot of sponsors have chipped in and there is still room for some corporates who want to partner with them.
“I can’t disclose now the list of sponsors but what I can say is that I urge the corporate world to come and support children.
“This is the first time we have such initiatives. Rome wasn’t built in a day so let us rally behind one another,” she said.
Mwoyofiri said it is different from the Harare Agricultural Show as children will be at the forefront. “From the master of ceremony to activities lined up, children will take centre stage,” she said.
