Former Big Brother housemate Lerato Modise was all smiles when she joined festivalgoers at the Corona Sunsets Festival at Casalinga in Muldersdrift, Gauteng, on Saturday.
Known to many as a vibrant TV personality and rising creative force, Lerato caught up with TshisaLIVE to share what she’s been up to and where she’s headed.
“To a certain degree, yes,” she said when asked if she considers herself an influencer.
“With a growing social media following I get to do some influencing work, which I’m navigating. My professional work as an upcoming producer needs to be fine-tuned and that is all happening through the experience I’m gaining while on set.”
While she’s earning her stripes in the entertainment industry, Lerato revealed her real dream lies in storytelling through film.
“My dream is to go back to school and study film. I have qualifications in export management and strategic brand management from the Institute of Marketing Management, but film is where my heart is.”
Grounded and purpose-driven, Lerato credited her growth to the support system around her.
“Brand associations have helped me stay grounded because I surround myself with people who are far better than me in life, people I learn from. I’ve got a good support system with Kele Mashigo (Paramount) and Osmic Menoe (Ritual Media) and my family, who play a vital role in how I show up and always encourage me to never stop learning.”
She also shared updates on her creative journey.
“I’m writing, and I completed my first feature in March. I’ll be attending a lot of film festivals. Many people tell me I should start DJing because I love music, I’m passionate about it, and I can mix very well so we’ll see where that goes.”
Known affectionately as Miss Robot by children from her outreach initiatives, Lerato said she’s very involved in giving back.
Her love for storytelling also extends into animation.
“I can’t wait for my first animation to be released in December 2026. I’m in studio working on it.”
At the Corona Sunsets Festival, Lerato soaked up the vibes and left with a full heart.
“The highlight for me was definitely meeting my ‘Roboticals’ fans. The fireworks were incredible, the sound was out of this world, and I got free sunflowers, which are my favourites. The food was also amazing. As a pescatarian, I appreciated the great vegan options. And there was face painting or design art, I’m not sure what it’s called, but I loved it!”
Lerato has her sights set on making a global impact.
“The future? Being a well-renowned storyteller and winning an Oscar for Best Short Film in Animation. I want to take over the film space. It’s OK to see yourself as the Tyler Perry or Shonda Rhimes of Africa, and I do.” − Times
