MUSICIAN Leslie Kampila has offered a glimpse into his forthcoming album, Over, with the release of a new single titled Simba Rangu, featuring urban grooves veteran Maskiri.
The hip hop-infused Afro RnB track, produced by Lance Hebron, highlights Kampila’s musical versatility and evolving sound.
Kampila said the love-themed track encourages people to consistently appreciate their partners and nurture their relationships. He added that the single is part of a rollout strategy leading up to the album’s release.
“I wanted to explore something different with a hip hop Afro-RnB approach, and fortunately I managed to reconnect with Maskiri. We’ve known each other since the days he stayed in Nketa, and although we worked on something back then, it was never released. This time, we set the tone, and with Lance Hebron, this is what we came up with.
“The album promises to be fireworks when it drops in a few months. I’ll be releasing a string of singles leading up to it. It will feature artistes such as Maskiri, Trevor Dongo, Calvin Mangwana, Tadex MadeIt, Nicky Genius, as well as other surprise collaborations,” he said.
With the new single already generating interest, anticipation is building for Over, which is expected to showcase a blend of sounds and collaborations that reflect Kampila’s artistic growth. – Follow on X: @mthabis
