LET’S AVOID A BLOODY EASTER, SAYS MINISTER

MINISTER of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, has called on transport operators to prioritise sancticty of human life during the Easter holidays.

Speaking at the lauch of the Traffic Council Eastet Road Safety Campaign, Minister Mhona said the responsibility of ferrying passengers to various destinations is an important one and should be treated with such importance.

He also called upon every member of the public to play a part in combating road carnage.

“Commuter omnibus, bus drivers and public service vehicle drivers must drive within the set speed limit as stipulated under SI 118 of 2023.

“They ought to revere the sanctity of human life and not prioritise profit over life.

“Road ecosystem extends beyond the motorists but encompasses pedestrians, cyclists, motor cyclists, passengers and drivers of animal-drawn vehicles.

“Therefore, we want an Easter holiday devoid of unnecessary loss of human life,” said Felix.
