HARARE Mayor’s wife has called upon stakeholders to take part in the Mayor’s Cheer Fund to increase the quantity of donations to the less privileged members of society.
Speaking during a handover donation at the Jairos Jiri Southerton and Waterfalls Homes, Elizabeth Mafume said the donations will go a long way in improving the welfare of the children in care homes.
“This concept creates feelings of gratitude but also encourages a culture of giving that enables sharing of resources with the less privileged in our society.
“Our focus is on the needs of the children and to understand the challenges that you encounter on a daily basis as you strive to put the basic needs on the table.” She said the board will also work tirelessly to provide tuition funds, stationery and clothes. “As the Board we are aware that you are in need of tuition funds, clothes and other things. We will continue to look for such from our partners.”
Elizabeth said the goal of the fund was to alleviate food challenges within the children’s home.
