ADE Seven student at Kirkman Primary School in Harare has taken art and craft by storm.
The 14- year-old told H- Metro that his parents have been very supportive.
He said his parents allow him to express himself through art and craft and they are very supportive.
He even gave us a lecture about art.
He told us that one thing about art is you can create anything from your mind without being taught and bring it to real life.
He said he does paper craft and he uses cardboards, glue and paint to come up with a good and beautiful craft.
Tsepo said he has at times managed to bring food on the table for his family.
He said this is making his family happy because his art and craft is bringing money home and he now can even buy groceries for them. The 14-year-old said he was even buying clothes for his other siblings at home.
Tsepo is the only child doing art and craft in his family.
It tends out that he is also academically gifted.
His art and craft teacher, Joseph Svisva, told us that Tsepo’s future looks very bright.
Svisva said Tsepo can create something which he has never been taught and he was very good at painting.
He has pocketed many art and craft awards since the time he was in Grade Six.
This is a very good story and we were proud to report it to the nation, in particular, and the world at large.
It’s a refreshing story because here we have a teenager who has a gift and has become mature to know that if he pursues his line then chances are that he will be very successful.
We live in a country where we are burdened by drug and substance abuse when it comes to our youthful generations.
We all know a story or two of the teenagers who have lost their way and have been sucked into the dark world of drug and substance abuse.
Every day, we hear messages in which many people are trying to spread the word that drug and substance abuse is destructive and a cancer to these boys who are supposed to be the future of this country.
We have even heard songs from some of our leading musicians denouncing drug and substance abuse.
Against that grim background, it is refreshing to know that there are some young men, and women, in our country who are pursuing a different and beautiful path.
They are chasing their real dreams and if we support them well then they will develop into serious business people.
They are focussed and know what they want in this world.
Tsepo is one of these kids and we have to find ways to help him realise the full potential of his dreams.
There is nothing that can stop him from becoming a big artist in the future.
Let’s give him all the support.
