to guard against the reactionary neo-colonial forces.
Addressing an international forum on the politics of economic and social transformation in the era of global crisis in Malaysia organised by that country’s ruling party, the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), last week Ambassador Khaya Moyo said African, Asian, and Latin America had a common enemy, Western colonialism.
“We in Zimbabwe and Africa have always been proud to be associated with the revolutionary processes in Asia and Latin America since the days of anti-colonial and liberation struggles,” he said.
“Needless to mention that we fought against a Western colonialism and racism as a united international force for freedom and independence, now we are united once again in our fight against the same common forces.”
Ambassador Khaya Moyo said there was a need to develop comradeship and solidarity to end poverty and corruption, which could only be achieved when there is political and economic stability.
“At this point we need some form of international organisational structure which will facilitate a systematic coordination of our solidarity activities and effective defence of our struggles to enable us to empower our people,” he said.
Ambassador Khaya Moyo said unity of purpose was important because the enemy the revolutionary parties were fighting was highly globalised and sophisticated.
He encouraged Third World countries to safeguard revolutionary gains by resisting neo-colonialism.
Ambassador Khaya Moyo also condemned the war in Palestine and called for the creation of an independent State.
Turning to the land reform programme, Ambassador Khaya Moyo said it had empowered the majority of blacks in Zimbabwe.
He said the passion by the revolutionary party, Zanu-PF, to empower its people had unfortunately seen imperialist countries responding by imposing the illegal sanctions that were hurting the country’s economy.
He said unfortunately for the West, it was “too late” to reverse the gains of independence and indigenisation as next week’s people’s conference would assess strides made so far as the party moves to defend national sovereignty, and consolidating indigenisation and economic empowerment.
“Economically what Zimbabwe has to do to defeat the illegal sanctions is to continue to reorganise and increase production in all sectors of the economy,” he said.
Ambassador Khaya Moyo said revolutionary parties needed active support from the Asian and Latin American counterparts.
The national chairman led a high-powered delegation to attend UMNO’s congress as part of the two parties’ solidarity and also in preparation for the 12th Zanu-PF Annual People’s Conference starting this week.
