This was said during the CDS’ third annual graduation ceremony held at the Large City Hall in Bulawayo on Friday afternoon which saw over 300 graduates being conferred with diplomas in various studies.
The institution’s executive director, Mr Goodwin Mathe, said the process was near finalisation.
“We have applied for associate status with Nust since 2009 and the process is near finalisation. Generally, the process takes long to finalise, but soon our graduates could earn more value from their diplomas.
“Such status will augment value in our diplomas and ensure our graduates continue to study for degrees at the local universities in our bid to complement Government in training and research,” said Mr Mathe.
Guest of honour, Mr Milton Webb Ndlovu, Nust’s Executive Dean in the Faculty of Commerce, said he would assist CDS in the process.
Mr Ndlovu also urged CDS to go back and develop their communities especially in this era of the HIV/Aids scourge.
“I urge you to go back to your communities and apply the life long skills, especially at a time our nation requires such expertise in the management of HIV/Aids.
“Create an important linkage in proffering solutions to challenges faced by our communities. Be involved in place development and not people development. As an academic, I understand the pressure of balancing the studies, your professions and families and I commend you for your efforts,” said Mr Ndlovu.
More than 300 graduates attained diplomas in HIV/Aids Management, Programming and Counselling; Water and Sanitation; Disaster Management; Monitoring and Evaluations, Programme Designing and Environment Studies.
