THE country is under siege from negative conspiracy theories by its detractors, but Zimbabweans should remain focused, celebrating the positive goals that have so far been achieved, Vice President Kembo Mohadi has said.
Speaking during the commissioning of a state-of-the-art isolation wing at Gweru Provincial Hospital yesterday, VP Mohadi said Zimbabwe was on the right path and people should not be distracted by unsubstantiated negative onslaught on the country.
The new isolation centre was refurbished and equipped with ventilators and oxygen machines to the tune of R15 million.
“Whilst we appear somewhat under siege from the negativity by our spirited detractors, it is such beautiful milestones such as we are witnessing today that should encourage us that Zimbabwe is indeed moving in the right direction,” said VP Mohadi.
He said the New Dispensation had scored many positives especially in the health sector, which had suffered years of neglect.
He said Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals now meets international standards due to the refurbishment and equipment that have been undertaken by the New Dispensation.
“A truth that Zimbabweans seem to be shy of is that the Second Republic has been instrumental in resuscitating the nearly dead health delivery service system.
“Surely, a lot of innovations and initiatives such as the one we are beholding today are being undertaken across the country.
“I challenge you to visit Parirenyatwa in Harare and see for yourselves the developments that the Second Republic has achieved in the health service delivery system there,” he said.
VP Mohadi said the Government would not be deterred by the negativity onslaught on its focus of achieving an upper middle class economy by the year 2030.
“At national level, the commissioning of this facility resonates well with President Mnangagwa’s vision of making Zimbabwe an upper middle income economy by the year 2030.
“May you allow me to highlight that against this negative and gloomy portrayal of our country it is quite remarkable to note that Gweru Provincial Hospital is a venue to a medical procedure in which our experts in this sector performed a safe and efficient delivery of a Covid-19 positive mother. What an unsung song,” he said.
VP Mohadi said the Government will continue working hand-in-glove with local companies in achieving the set goals. He said the country remained focused in turning around the economy
