AUTHOR and education advocate, Ronald Sambona, is using his new book to challenge the nation to rethink the future of learning.

The book confronts some of the most pressing educational challenges students and teachers are facing.

Sambona has published his debut book titled “The Battle for Education,” that combines personal experience, policy analysis, and practical solutions aimed at transforming Zimbabwe’s education system for the digital age.

He highlights the struggles faced by learners across the country while presenting a vision for a more inclusive and technologically-driven future.

In an interview, Sambona said he examines the barriers that continue to hinder educational progress, including rural-urban inequalities, outdated curricula, gender discrimination, inadequate infrastructure and limited access to technology.

“This book is both a passionate manifesto and a practical roadmap for education reform.

“It is essential reading for policymakers, educators, parents, and anyone committed to building a more equitable and prosperous Zimbabwe through the transformative power of education.

“Drawing from my personal journey from rural Honde Valley to the heart of Zimbabwe’s academic debates, I explore the triumphs and heartbreaks of pursuing knowledge in a system fraught with inequality, outdated infrastructure, and cultural barriers,” said Sambona.

The author paints a picture of realities faced by many learners including children walking long distances to school, girls forced into early marriages before completing their education and teachers working tirelessly despite limited resources.

Sambona said he refuses to let despair win.

Instead, he urges readers to join a collective movement arguing that education must be fought for and reimagined at every level of society.

He said the book advocates greater investment in STEM education, digital literacy, lifelong learning, teacher empowerment and improved infrastructure, particularly in rural communities.

It also calls for policies that ensure quality education is accessible to all learners regardless of gender, location, or socio-economic background. Sambona said at the heart of the book is a belief that education remains the most powerful tool for national development and social transformation.

Sambona is already a familiar voice he earned national recognition as a Youth Interactive Writer for The Herald and has contributed extensively to The Manica Post and Kwayedza Dzidza.

His articles on educational rights, women’s empowerment, technology and modernisation have sparked important conversations among readers across the country.

Some of his notable works include Quality Education in the Digital Era, Building Our Future: Empowering Rural Children Through Education, and A Moment for Transformative Education.

He said these writings have consistently championed the rights of learners and advocated for reforms that respond to the demands of a rapidly changing world.
