Letters to the Editor: Deal with Zimsec exam leakages once and for all

Sekuru Chiweshe

I am disappointed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) for not doing enough to curb exam paper leakages.

After assurances that adequate measures had been taken to ensure that no exam paper would find its way to the streets, we then heard that learners were found in possession of an A-level economics paper in Hwange, Matabeleland North.

I want to take this opportunity to urge Minister Paul Mavima to urgently tackle this issue before our highly acclaimed education standards go to the dogs.

Zimsec now has its own printing press, and one would have thought this would go a long way in eliminating leakages.

My hope is that after the Hwange incident, corrective measures will be taken.

Government has already declared war against the rot, and justice must surely be served.

Maybe the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) has to be roped in to weed out the culprits.
