MR Editor, this transport jungle must be permanently tamed in all the communities and the recent steps by Government to announce downward reviewed fares is gratefully welcome by many long suffering people especially in most rural communities where fares have remained comparatively high.
The announcement by Government that the shortest distance by Zupco bus charges as little as $0-50c per single journey has ushered in new sigh of relief and hope among many commuters especially those who have been struggling to reach to and from work everyday.
It is laudable that Government is fighting the economic revolution on behalf of the suffering people and all Zimbabweans are urged to reciprocate this revolution by advocating for more permanent solutions to the transport woes exacerbated by high fares.
Cities have seen this revolution since most Zupco buses are found in urban cities. Now is the time for Government to migrate this revolution and introduce these Government subsidised buses in rural areas where people travelling to and from cities are suffering from the effects of an untamed transport jungle characterised by either paying fourfold fares or failing to reach their destinations due unavailability of transport.
The most hit are workers who have to endure the plight of the plummeting value of their salaries.
