Sadly, we can’t use that as a consolation and even an excuse for our doomed 2019 ICC World Cup. And as Peter Moor saluted Zimbabwe’s display against neighbours South Africa in the first Twenty20 International cricket match at Buffalo Park in East London, a match in which our Chevrons lost by 34 runs having been whitewashed in the ODI series, we also counted our losses.
We ought to remind our Chevrons that the “we almost got there” mentality is not what we expect of the boys.
Of course, the Chevrons have a great potential to bounce back from the shadows of failure and reclaim our lost respect and glamour in the world of cricket.
Victory continues to be elusive, but we must remain optimistic.
Great teams are judged by the results and how they respond to failure, and after our World Cup disaster we expected an improvement even against a formidable side like South Africa.
We must continue rallying behind our team. It’s our national pride, but it’s time they repay our love with tangible results.,
They need to stand tall and be counted again on the world cricket map starting with these international ODI, Twenty20 matches that lie ahead of us.
