LG Foods to pay school fees for Inline’s outstanding players

Speaking to Chronicle Sport yesterday, LG Foods director Larrence Gwati said it was his wish to pay school fees for outstanding players.

“It pains to see talented players who are also academically gifted failing to pay for their education. We know there is life after one’s football career hence the decision to pay for these outstanding players’ education,” said Gwati.

He said plans were also underway to acquire a bus for the Shadreck Mlauzi-coached outfit who finished third in the national premiership log standings last season.

“As the principal sponsors we want to buy a team bus this year. We are also working on incentives to boost the morale of the players as well as make sure they are motivated to play good football,” he said.

Gwati who has in the past released money to bankroll the Bulawayo Province Women Football League, man-of-the-match awards for matches involving two of the most popular teams in the country, Dynamos and Highlanders and the Southern Region Premier League Player of the Month award, praised the way Inline Academy administrators are running the club.

“We believe stars in Zimbabwe can be born in that club as it is one of the most organised clubs in the country. We are therefore keen to help them develop talent and we will do all we can to make sure that the championship is brought to the City of Kings,” Gwati said.

In December last year LG Foods bankrolled the club’s awards to the tune of $2 400.

Contacted for comment, Inline Academy secretary-general Trust Kwembeya said LG Foods had thrown them a lifeline.

“We welcome the support we have been given by LG Foods as they have been our principal sponsors,” he said.

Inline Academy beefed up their technical team early this year when they engaged former New Orleans and Young Mighty Warriors coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda as one of their coaches.
