The construction of the Liberation City is another testament of the excellent work of the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa, Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Charles Tawengwa has said.
Minister Tawengwa who was on tour of the project last week, said the Liberation City is a ‘city within a city’ as it can accommodate up to 7 000 people.
“This place will capture all the history of Africa, including how the continent united during the liberation struggle with the aid of nations such as Russia, Cuba and China,” he said.
“That information is being gathered all here. Those who are waiting for the completion of this project,we appeal to them to be a bit patient until all the work is finalised, then they will appreciate better that the Second Republic is doing a splendid job.”
Minister Tavengwa said the Liberation City was an eye-opener for people so that they fully appreciate Africa’s history.
“We applaud the work being done here. We are capturing the history of Africa as a whole. There will be a host of facilities here including a hotel, a medical facility, and recreational space. It is a one-stop shop for a family set up. It is a sacred place which we must take proper care of,” he said.
The Museum of African Liberation is being built on 103ha plot 7km south-west of Harare city centre.
It will house the museum as the main attraction and will also include a theme park, animal park, and national monuments.
The Liberation City is projected to be a family friendly attraction for both local, regional and international tourists who will enjoy history, heritage, recreational, commercial and amusement facilities.
