Liema Pantsi’s triumphant homecoming after winning ‘Big Brother’ Mzansi

After captivating audiences on Mzansi’s most controversial reality show and clinching the R2 million grand prize, Liema Pantsi has made a triumphant return to her roots.

Back in her hometown, the “Big Brother Mzansi” winner was met with a sea of supporters who welcomed her home with open arms and an outpouring of love.

As she stepped into King Phalo Airport, a crowd began to cheer. Her mother and aunts were waiting there to welcome her home with flowers and balloons.

After greeting the crowd, she headed for the convoy traveling to the King Club. Things moved slowly at first, with an hour-long wait before the group finally set off for the handover venue.

At the venue, Mzansi Magic representative Portia Hlongwane welcomed attendees and gave Pantsi words of encouragement.

Hlongwane spoke about Pantsi’s growth from the “S’yamosha” season, when she first entered the “Big Brother Mzansi” house, to how she redeemed herself during the “Bazozwa” season.

“In the year of growth that I’ve seen in you, I hope that you’re going to step up more, especially now that you have your family. The purpose we are here is to celebrate you. And I hope you take in whatever people are going to say today. Take it in,” Hlongwane said.

Her family members were also present, and they shared their gratitude for the support people have shown Pantsi, while also praising the efforts made to pull the day together.

Pantsi stunned in a black and white couture gown designed by media personality and fashion designer Somizi Mhlongo.

The 24 year old star also reiterated how grateful she is for the journey and everyone who ensured she walked away with the grand prize.

“Thank you is not enough. It’s an understatement. I’m really grateful, and to think that I am the first winner of the ‘Big Brother Mzansi’ franchise who hails from Eastern Cape, it’s out of this world, it’s amazing,” she said.

Pantsi was crowned the official winner of “Big Brother Mzansi: Bazozwa” on March 22, walking away with the R2 million grand prize after a full-circle moment that has been years in the making.

This is not Pantsi’s first rodeo. Many may remember her from the “S’yamosha” season in 2024, where she made the bold decision to take R250,000 and exit the game early.

At the time, it was a decision that divided opinion, but it also showed her ability to think strategically and put herself first.

This season, she returned with a completely different mindset. Older, more focused, and with a clearer sense of self.

Her time in the house reflected that growth. She played a more calculated game, choosing her moments carefully, building the right alliances, and knowing when to step back. That balance of strategy and self-awareness is what ultimately set her apart . —IOL.
