SOUTH African-based and Mutare-born gospel artiste, Grace Cozzy Mushonga whose soulful music has taken the neighbouring country’s airwaves by storm, says she is inspired by life’s day-to-day challenges.

Mushonga’s music is receiving rave reviews, particularly the newly-released single, Tell The Story, which is accompanied by a video.

She is receiving favourable airplay on local radio stations as well as on DSTV’s gospel channels One Gospel and Trace Gospel.

The young silky-voiced diva grew up in the dusty streets of Mutare’s Sakubva suburb and joined the mainstream gospel music industry in 2019.

This was after she had cut her musical milk teeth at her church choir.

In an interview from her South African base, Mushonga said she is encouraged by the support she is receiving, especially in the neighbouring country.

She attributed the feat to grace, adding that she draws her inspiration from the Holy Spirit.

“I am really impressed and I feel encouraged by the support I have been receiving so far. I started singing at school and at church when I was very young, but never thought that one day I would be a professional gospel artiste. I started recording in 2019 and released my debut album during the same year. In 2020, I released my first music video, Unoyambuka.

“In 2021, I released my second video, More Than Conqueror. My songs are inspired by the Holy Spirit and the word of God. On the song Tell The Story, the Lord makes me understand that if He can dress and beautify the lilies of the fields, He will be our salvation in everything.

“In life we are sometimes confronted by difficult situations and we don’t even know the way out, but the Lord gives us assurance that in those ugly and bad situations, He will be with us and He will never fail us.

“Our lives are stores that He foreknew and for sure without doubt, when the time is right in His calendar, we will tell the story of how we overcame and how we made it. Our times and seasons might be different, but definitely everyone’s time of celebrating will come,” she said.

“I look forward to continue preaching the Word of God through music and to reach out to as many as I can, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

“I believe so much in music, it ministers to the soul, it heals, it comforts, it revives, it strengthens, it edifies and it is just food for the soul. “My music is available on social media platforms Spotify, Amazon, Deezer, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram,” she added.
