CREATE a flattering radiance to illuminate your home by using lamps, fixture and bulbs. Mix light sources at different levels to create a flattering ambience (natural light), and you need appropriate task lighting for whatever you do in that space be it reading, dressing or eating.

Make your living room look appealing and sophisticated by strategically placing your lights in different positions. For instance, light more than one light in your living room . . . light three of the four corners. Draw people’s attention by creating a pleasing focal point in your dining room by making your table the brightest spot in the room. Use chandeliers as indirect lighting…your room will feel relaxing and flattering. Give the space a subtle radiance with a pair of small table lamps on a sideboard or matching candleholders on the wall above.
In your kitchen, focus on overhead lighting (on a dimmer that you can turn up when cooking), and add lower sources to illuminate work surfaces. Use pendants, under-cabinet lights, or a sturdy table lamp which should be kept away from the sink.
Your bedroom should have a cosy atmosphere. Place reading lamps by the bed but it should not directly point at it. If you have recessed or track fixtures, angle them away from the bed, toward the dressing area. On a low table, include a small, intimate lamp with a tinted low-wattage bulb to mimic candlelight.
