Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo today commissioned four buses that will ferry civil servants in the province, as the Government continue to improve working conditions for civil servants not only in the province but nationwide.
The four buses will be servicing four routes, which are Marondera -Chitungwiza, Marondera-Macheke, Chikomba and Mutoko.
The buses are part of many interventions by the Second Republic, which is walking the talk on its commitment to better the working conditions for its employees.
In his remarks, Advocate Ndudzo said the message is not only about commissioning buses, but about commissioning hope, comfort, and dignity for those who keep the wheels of Government turning.
“We have gathered for the handover of four buses to the civil servants of Mashonaland East Province,” he said.
“These buses are coming under the Government of Zimbabwe’s Second Republic. Mashonaland East Province received four mini-buses from this consignment, each one a vehicle of service, and each one a bridge between workstations and the hardworking hearts that serve our nation.
“Let me be very clear on what these buses mean in practice. One bus will replace the vehicle in Chikomba District that needs attention; the one in that district will then be redeployed to Marondera Urban.
“Another bus will replace the bus in Seke District, and after it has been properly serviced, it will also be redeployed to Marondera. In this way, we are not simply moving transport; we are restoring reliability, reducing delays, and ensuring that civil servants arrive at their duties with steadiness, not struggle.”
He said as the Second Republic continues to listen to the realities on the ground, demand is always not waiting.
“Government is therefore responding with motion, structure, and planning so that no worker feels left behind,” he said.
“President Mnangagwa’s vision is not limited to speeches. It is reflected in actions that improve the lives of civil servants across all sectors.
“Today, we are strengthening service delivery with transport. Tomorrow, more will come because the Second Republic is building for the long term.
“Government is advancing initiatives that support civil servants not only in their daily movement to work, but also in areas that improve their living conditions, including housing. Bit by bit, and step by step, we are building brick by brick the future that every civil servant deserves.”
He said the delivery of the buses is a promise fulfilled.
“So as these buses are handed over today, I want every beneficiary to see them as part of a national promise: a promise that public service will be supported, public servants will be
respected, and their welfare will be protected.
“To our community leaders and management of the Public Service Commission in the province, I urge careful utilisation and responsible maintenance.”
