PLUMTREE – A local media company is doing more than just snapping pretty pictures; it’s snapping young talent into shape!
Roxtonic Media, founded by Ronald “Rox” Mpofu, is fast becoming the pride of Plumtree, turning weddings, events, and dreams into real-life opportunities for the town’s youth.
This past weekend, Roxtonic’s trio — Mpofu, Edson Ngwenya, and Talent Sibindi — lit up the Mandlenkosi Nkomo and Thandiwe Lina Chionera wedding at Plumtree School Pavilion Grounds, capturing every special moment with cutting-edge tech and crisp creativity.

But behind the cameras was a bigger story, mentorship, empowerment, and hope.
“I used to tell stories through WhatsApp podcasts and pictures,” said Edson Ngwenya, Roxtonic’s assistant since 2023. “Now I’m travelling, learning filming and photography hands-on, thanks to Rox.”
Ngwenya’s passion caught Mpofu’s attention, and the rest is history. Now, he’s not alone.
Mpofu recently added another young gem, Talent Sibindi, as second camera assistant.
“Roxtonic isn’t just about making money,” said Mpofu. “It’s about exposing Plumtree’s raw talent to the world, from photographers and musicians to actors and models. We’re going big, and the youth are going with us.”
Started in 2008 as Roxtonic Records, a humble music studio, the brand evolved into a full-blown media powerhouse in 2017, now offering graphics, video, and more.
With upcoming gigs in Botswana’s Gaborone and Masunga, the Roxtonic squad is proving that dreams brewed in Plumtree can shine across borders.
“Give them the tools,” said Mpofu, “and our youth will tell the world their story, frame by frame.”
