Britain Got Talent finalist, Zimbabwean singer Linda Mudzenda has been invited to perform at King Charles III’s birthday celebrations in Zimbabwe at the United Kingdom Embassy garden.
King Charles III was born on November 14, 1948 but his official date was set for June to increase the chance of fair weather during the birthday celebrations in the United Kingdom.
It is believed that in the Northern Hemisphere, June is the first month of summer, and it is one of the driest and warmest months of the year in London.
The event will be held on June 11.
Linda, who is based in the United Kingdom, confirmed she is in Zimbabwe for some days, where she will also use the opportunity to work on her music.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, the talented singer said she was invited after they saw her podcast interview on social media.
She said she is happy about the opportunity, as it will also open doors in London and back home.
“After my Britain Got Talent (BGT) audition was aired on television and social media, the embassy in Zimbabwe got in touch with me through Nico Abote, the head of My Africa Magazine.”
“They were impressed with what they saw and I have been communicating with them since then.
“They then invited me to come and perform on King Charles III’s birthday and I was so excited and I couldn’t believe the chance to grab the opportunity,” she said.
Linda said preparations are going so well as she announced what she is going to sing.
“I arrived last week and two days after, I jumped into the studio to book and check on my appointments. For the event, I am singing the Zimbabwe and UK national anthems. I am also singing my audition song from BGT titled, “You Say” and a couple of other songs,” she said.
The 21-year-old singer said she is working on her next project.
“I have got few tracks that I am working on, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear them. I am going back to the studio and want to also maximise the time that I have, who knows, maybe I will shoot music videos as well.”
“I am so excited about it, my new music, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
Asked what lessons she learnt from BGT, Linda said that the platform makes dreams real, and it is up to an individual to utilise the opportunities.
“I learnt that dreams are achievable, and hard work and consistency pay.”
“Sometimes things don’t go your way, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. God has a way of opening doors when other doors are shut,” she said.
“I also learnt that I am surrounded by a robust support network, including my family. I was humbled by the support I got from both Africa and the UK and from all over the world.”
She did not reveal how the BGT shaped her or any major deals from the show.
“I can just say, watch this, watch this space.”
However, Linda gained recognition for her performance on Britain Got Talent in March, where she received a golden buzzer from Alesha Dixon.
Currently she is a children’s support worker in the UK. She has been singing since she was 10.
