The President announces that he has brought 90 laptops, printers, projectors and projector screens among other ICT gadgets to be distributed to schools in Harare Province.

He cites the Mapfura project in Mwenezi as well as the Masawu project at Bindura University innovation hub as some of the success stories.

14:22 The President says that the Second Republic is determined to improve the health sector as exhibited by the construction and rehabilitation of many health institutions.

He states that the Government commissioned various equipment that includes ambulances, drug delivery trucks and MRI machines at Parirenyatwa Hospital this morning.

He reveals that Government has a plan to construct a total of 36 medium-health hospitals, with four having already been completed.

14:17 The President says it is regrettable that soccer teams such as Dynamos are being forced to play their matches out of town due to lack of facilities, “We will renovate our stadiums so that our teams such as Dembare can play their matches in the capital.”

14:13 The President says that his Government has also made headway in addressing energy challenges by constructing Hwange Units 7 and 8 which have added over 600MW to the national grid. He also says the Government has managed to address fuel challenges which are now a thing of the past

14:10 The President chronicles some of the infrastructure projects, namely Mbudzi Interchange, Masvingo-Beitbridge road construction, Robert Mugabe International Airport Expansion project and many others, that have been successfully done by the Second Republic.

14:08 The President says that, in order to address food shortages in urban areas, the Government will distribute free fertiliser and grains for urban farmers.

14:06 The President says that the country is now food secure. “We are in our third year of experiencing food security and we are confident that even in the event of climate change-induced drought, we will not experience food shortages as we have built dams for irrigation.”

14:03 “Perpetrators of violence will be brought to book without fear or favour. We need peace and harmony during and after the elections, and at all times as we are a peace-loving people.

I commend you for the prevailing peace we are experiencing in the country.”

14:01 The President speaks on the issue of peace, saying that the whole country should remain united to shame our detractors who want to see the country in disarray.

13:59 He says Zimbabwe is a unitary state, “We have a foreign policy that states that we are a friend to all and an enemy to none, but those who chose to be our enemies we cannot help it as it is their democratic right to choose what they want.”

13:52 The President has urged the urban electorate to vote out the opposition councillors who have caused poor road network, sewage system and water system and vote in Zanu PF candidates for the best service delivery. “Zanu PF rejects the daylight robbery of our people’s hard-earned money by the opposition as they are heartless and incompetent.”

Today, 9 August, President Mnangagwa is expected to address a Presidential Star Rally at Robert Mugabe Square in Harare.

A total of 267 high-impact projects and programmes are being implemented in Harare Province.

Some have been completed, some await commissioning, and others are near completion.

Harare Province Completed Projects:
– Robert Mugabe International Airport US$153 million expansion project. The groundbreaking ceremony was in July 2018 and the project has been completed.
-To ensure trafficable roads 225km of roads were graded, maintained and drain cleared. 65km of road constructed. 54 solar lights installed and 58km road rehabilitated. Chitungwiza and Tilco roads containment of potholes and signage.
– Urban transportation, 156 buses procured for Harare Province.
– Energy : Establishment of Mabvuku Ethanol Plant. Old Mutual Head Office Solar plant and Econet Solar Plant. Construction of a 2000MT LPG storage and distribution facility in Ruwa. JETA1 storage facility at RG Mugabe Airport and the Prince Edward 33/11 kv substation.
-Water Supply: Establishment of 6 solar powered piped water schemes. 86 Boreholes drilled under the Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme.
-Health: Construction of Stoneridge and Colbain clinics. Wilkins, BRIDH Refurbishment. Construction of Natpharm warehouse. Renovation works at Chitungwiza Central Hospital and modernisation of its ICU incinerator. Upgrade of Epworth Poly Clinic into a hospital.Harare Province Completed Projects:
-Institutional and Public Housing: Marimba, Chimoio, Dzivarasekwa flats and houses construction. 43 Chikurbi staff houses constructed. National Registry Building construction and establishment of e-passport offices. 365 title deeds issued to Epworth residents.
-Justice delivery: Commercial Court of Zimbabwe, Labour Court and Judicial Training Institute of Zimbwe we established. Epworth Magistrates Courts was commissioned. Integrated Electronic Case Management System installed at Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and Commercial Court.
-E-governance :Installation of online search facility for Deeds and Company records. E-passport system established and rolled out. Computerized learner driver’s license at VID Eastlea. Decentralisation of passport services to districts.
-Research and Innovation: Innovation hubs set up at all higher learning institutions. Zimstat 1 was launched into orbit. National Number Plate Production Plant at UZ. UZ Agro-Industrial Park and establishment of the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA).

President Mnangagwa  will commission vehicles and equipment at Parirenyatwa Hospital before addressing the rally.
