LIVE: Zimbabwe Agricultural Show Official Opening

1435: We are at the official opening ceremony of 111th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.

1445: President Mnangagwa is now on the podium to make his address.

1447: Th President says key aspects of the exhibition will improve Government policy implementation adding that economically productive rural areas are an essential guarantee to realise poverty eradication and help rural industrialisation.

1449: “Projects launched under vision 2030 show what can be achieved especially the Bubi Lupane irrigation project,” he says.

14:50: He emphasised the need for stakeholder cooperation in agriculture while commending  ZAS and NECF for organising the Agribusiness conference.

1452: The President said feedback from the conference is key to improving the sector. He urged women and youths to take advantage of agricultural programmes such as Pfumvudza and livestock schemes.

1455: He says Government continues to provide responsive agriculture commodities markets to incentives farmers. President Mnangagwa says the construction of dams across the country is being pursued for the benefit of people in rural areas and to improve agriculture efficiency.

1457: “Government ministries must become engines for the speedy attainment of rural development thrust. I call upon stakeholders to maximise on the prospects of another promising 2021/2022 summer season. Government will ensure timely supply of inputs to farmers.”

1459: “I urge stakeholders to keep up the culture of hard work and efficiency,” says the President as he declares the show officially open.
