coach of Swaziland top-flight side Green Mambas.
Mutasa has been jobless since being fired by Dynamos in August.
But it has emerged that Green Mambas, who are also a prison team, believe Mutasa is the right man to lead them to glory.
Mutasa was recently in Swaziland where he agreed terms with Green Mambas.
The former Kiglon and Highway coach is, however, back home as he has to secure clearance from his employers – the Zimbabwe Prison Services – before he can get down to work at the Swazi outfit.
Mutasa could neither confirm nor deny the Green Mambas deal yesterday preferring to comment only after getting clearance from his ZPS bosses.
But The Herald can reveal that Green Mambas are pulling no stops to have the former Dynamos midfielder take charge of their team.
Mutasa is also understood to have been impressed with the conditions in Swaziland.
Green Mambas is based in Simunye and was formed in 1987.
Currently it is on eighth position in the 12-team league which has teams like Royal Leopards, Eleven Men in Flight, Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Highlanders.
The landlocked country has attracted a lot of Zimbabwean coaches with former Warriors’ and CAPS United Armando Ferreira, the late Stanley “Sinyo” Ndunduma, Phillip Mbofana, David Mandigora and Friday Phiri having stints with Swazi clubs.
Mutasa began his coaching career with the now defunct Sporting Lions as a player/coach before taking charge of Flame Lily and Highway and Kiglon. He was appointed Dynamos coach early this year and led the team in the Caf Champions League.
He was relieved of his duties in August following a winless run and was quickly replaced by his long-time coaching partner and friend Callisto Pasuwa.
