on a project to help up-and-coming artistes make a breakthrough in the music industry.
The artiste is also slated to officially launch his second album titled Hie-mo-moh that comprises eight tracks.
Hailing from Matshetsheni in Gwanda “The Bongz The Baba” started singing at a tender age when he was part of Matshetsheni Primary school choir.
He has over the years worked with various artistes across the borders resulting in the release of his second album. Among the artistes he has worked with are Alaska, Chomee, and Rockerfellas.
In an interview, the 28-year-old Nkomo said his second album was set to mark his first step towards elevating talented but not yet established artistes to greater heights in the industry.
“My main vision is to help those struggling to make it in the industry and achieve their dreams.
“I have applied for funds from Culture Fund with the intention of establishing a music studio to promote local musicians,” he said.
The artiste also said the title track Hie mo moh is a term used to greet beautiful women.
“Hie mo moh is a slang term describing how people usually greet beautiful women. Their beauty in this sense is not a facial thing but the beautiful things women do for us,” he said.
The track Ngiyabonga is a dedication to all the teachers countrywide who have facilitated the education of the nation.
In the song the artiste hails every intellectual in the education sector for shaping a conscientised generation.
The track Bangaphi? poses a question on everyone who tried to discourage the artiste from pursuing his musical career.
The Bongz The Baba also said the local industry was not doing enough to promote local arts. He added that local musicians play second fiddle to international artistes, which creates an inferiority complex resulting in gifted artistes relocating to neighbouring countries.
Nkomo also said he has been marketing some of his songs, particularly from his first album, in South Africa.
Nkomo has managed to set up a studio called B-Flow Vision where he has been working with Moses Sibeko, Vusi Chiliza, TaMoss and MaVee.
“Truth is there is no place like home which is why I want to work with local talented artistes who sing various genres,” he said.
