Local artiste releases debut album

AFTER realising that God had called him to minister through music, a Chikanga-based gospel artiste recently released a 10-track album, Dzingori Nyasha as a way of acknowledging God’s purpose in his life.

Lovemore Mupeti (28), who has a seven-member band, Wheels of Praise, said spending time in church helped him understand that God was calling him.

“I spend a lot of time in the house of God and I believe that is how I managed to discern that God wants me to minister through music. I started singing when I was young, but my singing career commenced in 2011 when I wrote my first song. The other reason why I feel that God called me into music is that some of the songs are revealed to me while I will be praying.

“My album talks about the greatness of God and how worthy He is of all praises, take for instance Ngaavongwe. The song elaborates how Christians are supposed to praise the Lord regardless of life’s situations. Handigoni Kurega is intended to serve as an inspiration to Christians that God should always be worshipped,” he elaborated.

Some of the tracks on the album are Masvingo akoromoka, Handigoni kurega, Ngaavongwe, Shine your light, Muri mukuru and the title track, Dzingori nyasha.

Mupeti, who holds an Economics degree with the University of Zimbabwe, however, lamented the fact that he has limited time to focus on music as he has to juggle it with work.
