LOCAL long and middle-distance athletes will this weekend face a dilemma as two big races are lined up in Harare and Bulawayo.
The athletes will have to choose between the Zimswitch-KidzCan at ZB Sports Club in Harare tomorrow and this morning’s King’s half-marathon at Busters’ Sports Club in Bulawayo. Zimswitch-Kidzcan half-marathon dubbed ‘Run for hope’ is organised by Musabvunda Fitness and Lifestyle and will be held tomorrow morning at ZB Sports Club.
Kings half marathon is organised by Bulawayo Events.
Zimswitch-KidzCan fund raising marathon event organiser Kudzanai Pasipanodya said they are expecting a huge turnout of athletes from across the whole country.
The race will feature three categories: a 21km, 10km and 5km as well as the 2km fun run for children.
ZimSwitch-Kidzcan race will see proceeds extended to children living with cancer.
“As Musabvunda Fitness and Lifestyle, we are delighted to partner ZimSwitch in the KidsCan fundraising half marathon to be held at ZB Sports Club on Sunday.
“The ZimSwitch Half Marathon fundraising initiative will make a lasting difference in the lives of children living with cancer. We are expecting more than 1 000 athletes for the race.
The race kit collection began yesterday from lunch hour and will continue today at the venue.
“All proceeds raised will go towards supporting children currently battling cancer and helping to raise awareness about a disease that, while often associated with adults, affects thousands of children worldwide,” said Pasipanodya.
