ZIMTRADE is inviting local companies to participate at the forthcoming Luanda International Trade Fair also known as FILDA, to be held in Angola from 15- 20 July this year. FILDA is a multi-sectoral event that showcases consumer and capital goods, agricultural machinery, food, textiles, school supplies and spare parts; among others.
In a statement, ZimTrade chief executive officer, Ms Sithembile Pilime, urged local companies to capitalise and participate at the event at a time when the organisation is making frantic efforts to restore export capacity and competitiveness.
“As the national trade development and export promotion organisation in the country, it is our mandate to promote viable and sustainable regional and international trade, thus to us, the FILDA is an appropriate platform for our local firms to showcase their value added goods, products and services” she said.
Angola is a fast emerging economy in Africa with a GDP of US$130,4 billion and a growth rate of 8,4 percent in 2012. It is a member of the Southern Africa Development Community with a population of 20,8 million and GDP per Capita of US$6 500, implying significant consumption capacity
“In light of the above, our involvement complements the validation and the beneficiation cornerstone of the Zim-Asset” she said.
She said the event is going to benefit participating companies through reduced market development cost, direct contact with prospective markets, building brand awareness as well as creating opportunities to forge strategic alliances.
Interested exporting companies willing to participate in this trade fair can contact ZimTrade’s Trade Development and Promotion Manager, Mrs Vuyiswa Mafu at the organisation’s offices before February 5. Last year, 1 000 exhibitors from 35 countries in Africa, the Americas, Europe and Asia participated at FILDA and a total number of 60 000 visitors attended the show to update themselves on innovations and trends in their businesses. — Press Release.
