WITH virtually no training in dressmaking and designing, a local fashion designer is emulating Broadway and South African fashion designers.

At just the age of 21, Blessing Bhunu popularly known as Bleico has begun attracting the attention of South Africa’s fashion industry, as he recently was invited to showcase his collections in April this year.

After being nominated as the second best male designer at the Summer Fashion Style Awards held in Green Vista on Valentine’s Day, Bleico says he is driven by his love for fashion.

“I do it out of love and I have never been to any fashion school. I was invited to showcase my collections in South Africa in April.

I also got an invitation to showcase in Masvingo at a fashion event to be held soon,” he said.

Bleico said that he wanted to be different from designers and would work towards showcasing in America one day.

“I do my work from home and I am looking to establish a shop soon in town so that I am easily accessible to people,” he said.

Bleico added that he was self-motivated and was thankful to the Lord for giving him such a talent.

His collections include funky retro styles and also plus size designs for both men and women.

His brand name is called Leico Designs.
