Local firms have been invited to China to attend the Zimbabwe-China Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation and the Zimbabwe-China Business Forum which seeks to strengthen trade ties between the two countries.
Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping invited President Mnangagwa to visit China after he was inaugurated in November last year, following the resignation of former president Mr Robert Mu- gabe.
President Mnangagwa will next month lead a high-powered delegation including captains of industry to China for the State visit.
Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) chief executive officer Mr Clifford Sileya said the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development had invited captains of industry to accompany President Mnangagwa on his State visit to China next month.
Mr Sileya said local manufacturing companies should seize this opportunity to seek business opportunities and attract investment partners from China.
“We have received an invitation from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development for captains of industry to accompany the State President on a visit to China in April 2018. The actual dates are yet to be confirmed.
“The programme of the visit includes hosting the 10th Session of the Zimbabwe-China Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation and holding of a Zimbabwe- China Business Forum.
“The Business Forum is intended to present opportunities for cooperation between Zimbabwe and China in the fields of trade and investment and will allow for business-to-business (B2B) engagements with Chinese companies.
“Companies that are interested in seeking business opportunities and attracting investment partners from China are invited to take part in the business mission,” he said.
China and Zimbabwe have strong bilateral relations dating back to the days of the liberation struggle. The Asian country has stood by Zimbabwe in the face of the illegal sanctions imposed by Western countries.
China has also provided the country with aid and loans for various infrastructure development programmes, from power generation, roads to water and sanitation.
